Huffman Electric Inc. was started as a family owned company in 1986, by its current owner William (Bill) Huffman. Bill Huffman is a long-time resident of Champaign-Urbana, and began his career as an electrician in 1968. He served a four-year apprenticeship with the University of Illinois thru the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). For eighteen years, Huffman worked for local and national electrical companies before starting Huffman Electric Inc.
In the early years, the company started as a small residential and commercial business, with a focus on maintenance and troubleshooting. In the last fourteen years, the focus has shifted to institutional and commercial work..
